Different people are inspired by different things. Whether an artist or not this inspiration forges a desire to make something...maybe even leave a piece of yourself behind for future generations as Socrates claimed. In recent decades technology has only complemented this desire to materialize inspiration into something that will remain perceived by the senses for years to come as opposed to only the fleeting moment in time, no matter how wonderful that moment may be.Technology not only helps one capture the inspiration but also allows artists to manipulate it into what may easily become yet another source of inspiration. Technology allows an emphasis to be drawn on something that may have otherwise been glanced over, making each and every aspect of the piece valuable. The transcending quality of technology through the times has brought about many positive advances and allows anyone to be their own artist; art is no longer paint on a canvas. It has so successfully broadened horizons that the international community should take note of it's harmonious cohesion.
On a personal level, the transition from brushes to mouses and paint to digital pictures was not as powerful as it was to some, I'm sure. Not to devalue modern technology, but the art created from the old school brushes on canvas is so much more inspirational for me at this point in my life. It is all really just personal preference and to answer how technology mediates the artistic experience...I would have to say that without technology the scope of man made art would be shallow because even a pencil was once a technological advance.

Situational Tour

Maybe Zeke's thinking about his future?
College? How will he pay for school?

Front of the line...
Michaela is probably the only one who
gets to see this calm before the storm.
...the storm...waiting for the two buses we take over.

... gone...

??Martha's (Urban) Outfiters??
...we're here!...
Patient and calm,
kids wait in boardroom for their speaker.
Hopefully, they will sit at a similar desk in the future....

...drugs are bad...
ok.

Lunch...finally!

Garnett-Patterson Junior High...City Year
Ameri-Corps City Year brings together teams of 17-24 year olds dedicated to providing children in America's most urban cities after school literacy tutoring, substance abuse prevention education, and HIV/AIDS prevention education.
I participate in City Year's youth leadership development program, Young Heroes Washington D.C. and meet with over 100 middle school children from around the District every Saturday at Garnett-Patterson Junior High to participate in fellowship regarding civil topis. For example: Homelessness and Hunger, Civil Awareness, Education and Equality, Breaking Down Stereotypes, etc...
Half of each Saturday is spent educating the children about the day's topic through discussion, media and activities, and the other half is spent participating in a community service aspect throughout the D.C. community in correlation with the day's topic.
City Year's involvement throughout the nation openly spreads peaceful and progressive ideology and strives to prepare the next generation with skills that will allow them to better participate in a cohesive international community.

Entry 1...
Aesthetic appeal of art has not solely changed over time, but rather the appeal has always varied from person to person, regardless of era. In regards to traditional artistic media (drawing, painting, etc.) and digital multimedia, what constitutes key aspects of aesthetic appeal?
-Aesthetic appeal is something that even babies can identify, but what is it that appeals to them? As people develop they realize that things that bring them joy also brings them aesthetic appeal. Perhaps if a child had enjoyable camping experiences growing up, artistic renditions of the surroundings areas would be aesthetically appealing to them. The same colors, or sights...anything really, that would rekindle the individuals fond memories.
